Patricia A. Teunisse

Patricia Teunisse is a senior counsel at Walsworth who focuses her practice on general liability matters. She has more than 35 years of experience representing a variety of clients on business litigation matters, public construction, premises liability, real estate, and corporate and commercial litigation matters.  She handles all aspects of litigation, including developing case strategy, propounding and responding to written discovery, taking and defending fact and expert witness depositions, representing clients in trials, arbitrations, and mediations, and arguing appeals.

Patricia’s trial practice includes bench and jury trials She has tried 15+ jury trials to verdict, and she has successfully presented oral argument in state and federal district courts throughout California and before the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeal. She has been the winning counsel in five published appellate cases in California. Patricia is a Martindale-Hubbell, BV Distinguished Lawyer and also recently obtained a LLM in International Human Rights.

  • Clegg, et al. v. Airless Bicycle Tires, Inc., et al. Obtained a jury trial verdict in excess of one million dollars for investors in a start up corporation who were defrauded through a fraudulent conveyance.
  • Great West Contractors, Inc. v. Irvine Unified School District (2010) 187 Cal.App.4th 1425 – Obtained reversal on appeal of the trial court’s refusal to issue writ of mandate to require a construction project to be awarded to the low responsible bidder.
  • In re Thomas James Dyer, Debtor, Nancy Knupfer, Trustee v John Lindblade (2003) 9th Cir. 322 F.2d 1178 – Obtained reversal on appeal of the bankruptcy court’s decision to deny creditor rights to home purchased, but for which the debtor, his then son-in-law, failed to record a lien, testing the trustee’s power to avoid liens under the bankruptcy code.
  • Cardin v Barton Development, et al. Obtained a jury trial verdict of over $500,000 in a construction matter in favor of an asphalt paving subcontractor in a private subdivision development.
