Maerjon Nejat is an associate at Walsworth, who focuses her practice on toxic tort matters, business law, and drafting complex commercial transactions. She represents clients through all stages of pre-trial litigation, including discovery, depositions, drafting motions, trial preparation, and developing case strategies tailored to each client’s goals. Maerjon also advises clients on intellectual property protection, licensing, and corporate governance and equity allocation. Drawing on her background in transactional and regulatory matters, Maerjon brings industry-specific insight to her litigation practice, particularly in the technology, digital media, and interactive entertainment sectors.
Prior to joining the firm, she served as lead counsel at a video game consultancy and at another law firm representing more than 400 AAA and indie studios. She advised developers, publishers, platforms, and investors in over a hundred cross-border and high-profile transactions, particularly in matters involving data privacy, and emerging technologies, including high profile transactions such as acquisitions by Netflix, Warner Bros., and Monumental. Maerjon’s experience also includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in employment, product liability, automotive, and immigration matters. This cross-disciplinary perspective allows her to approach each case with a balanced understanding of legal and business objectives.
Maerjon has established herself as a thought leader through her speaking engagements and mentorship. She has presented at industry events and academic institutions on topics including AI governance, startup legal strategy, blockchain, and regulatory trends affecting interactive media. She also mentors emerging professionals, sharing practical guidance with students in UCLA’s video game program on entity formation, intellectual property, and the business of game development.
Maerjon is committed to pro bono service, having assisted in the formation of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) tax-exempt organizations that expand access to education, mentorship, and career opportunities in the gaming industry for both professionals and underrepresented communities. Maerjon draws inspiration from her mother’s determination to build a career in law and serve the community as an immigration attorney, shaping her perspective as a first-generation American.
