Walsworth Wears Pink in Support of Early Detection and Research During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States but mammograms can detect cancer up to two years earlier than manual detection.

The American Cancer Society recommends that most women between the ages of 45 and 54 should get a mammogram every year. For women considered high-risk, the American Cancer Society recommends yearly mammograms starting at age 30 instead of 45. Breast cancers found during regular mammograms are more likely to be smaller and still confined to the breast and can lead to a better prognosis for the patient.
