Walsworth Secures Complete Victory in Employment Arbitration

Partner Jennifer Morin and Senior Counsel Shahirah Ruddell secured a victory on behalf of Walsworth’s client, a major automotive dealership, in an employment arbitration. The employee asserted 11 claims, including age discrimination, harassment and retaliation under California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act, constructive discharge, meal and rest break violations, unpaid overtime, wage statement violations, and unfair business practices. The matter was initially filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in January 2024 before the parties stipulated to submit the claims to arbitration.

During the arbitration, the Walsworth team demonstrated that the employee lacked evidence to support his wage and hour allegations and could not establish discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or an adverse employment action during the relevant period of employment.

In the final award issued, the arbitrator denied all claims against Walsworth’s clients, bringing the arbitration to a successful conclusion.
