Walsworth Partners, Mary Watson Fisher and Elizabeth Huynh recently obtained summary judgment in an alleged discrimination and wrongful termination case for an esteemed client, a large financial institution.
The claimant had claimed she was constructively terminated due to her being a Latina and/or a female. During the claimant’s multi-session deposition, Elizabeth elicited several key favorable admissions. The team then used the testimony in conjunction with testimony and declarations from numerous defense witnesses to support their motion. Mary led oral argument and advocated that the claimant lacked evidence to prove her claims. The arbitrator agreed, finding that there were no triable issues of material fact and that summary judgment was proper. Notably, the claimant’s counsel is an award-winning litigator, whose prior successes included an eight-figure award against a large retailer, highlighting the caliber of the Walsworth team’s work. The firm is very proud of Mary, Elizabeth, and many others, including its staff-members, for their exceptional work on this case.
Mary and Elizabeth are experienced labor and employment litigators and have taken many cases to trial. In addition to her litigation work, Mary also advises employers on how to best avoid future litigation in employment matters, reviews employee handbooks, and conducts AB 1825 anti-harassment training for supervisors. Elizabeth practices in the areas of employment, bad-faith, business, and product liability litigation, and has had great success in seeking dismissals, summary judgments, costs awards, and favorable settlements for clients.
