Associate Defense Attorney (1-5 years) – Toxic Tort & Life Sciences

We are seeking a motivated and driven Associate Attorney with 1 to 5 years of litigation experience to join our growing team. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in California and reside within the state. Preferred experience includes insurance defense, toxic tort litigation (including silica, non-asbestos, and stone countertop matters), product liability, Proposition 65, life sciences, and/or habitability matters. However, we are committed to developing talented attorneys and are willing to train the right candidate. position offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative litigation team on active, complex matters while developing substantive case strategy, motion practice, discovery, deposition, and courtroom experience.

Compensation

Salary for this position ranges from $120,000-$175,000+, depending on experience level and agreed-upon minimum hours, with significant bonus opportunities. Compensation and attorney classification are based on the extent of directly relevant legal experience. Candidates without substantial relevant experience in the listed practice areas may be classified at a lower attorney level, with compensation commensurate with that level. Candidates with exceptional directly relevant experience may be considered for a higher classification within the firm’s attorney structure.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be admitted to the State Bar of California and reside in California.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • One to five years of litigation experience; experience in insurance defense, toxic tort litigation (including silica, non-asbestos, and stone countertop matters), product liability, Proposition 65, life sciences, and/or habitability matters is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to make in-person court appearances and attend proceedings as needed.
  • Strong interest in developing or continuing an active trial and litigation practice.
  • Experience managing complex, high-stakes, high-volume, or multi-party litigation is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience taking or defending depositions, attending court hearings, and preparing or arguing dispositive motions and pretrial submissions is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, competing priorities, and client expectations with sound judgment and professionalism.
