2026 2L Summer Internship

Walsworth LLP is a 60+ attorney law firm with offices in Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco.  We handle and litigate large scale, complex matters primarily in California.

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Summer Legal Intern to join our team for our upcoming 2026 Summer Program. This position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced legal environment, exposure to active client matters, and the opportunity to work closely with attorneys across multiple practice areas.

The ideal candidate is a second‑year law student interested in developing practical legal skills and gaining insight into the day‑to‑day work of a California law firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on a variety of issues.
  • Draft, review, and edit legal documents, including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, including organizing exhibits, reviewing discovery, and summarizing depositions.
  • Observe client meetings, court hearings, mediations, and depositions when appropriate
  • Support ongoing litigation matters.
  • Participate in internal trainings, workshops, and professional development sessions.
  • Perform administrative and project‑based tasks as needed to support the legal team.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2L currently enrolled in an ABA accredited J.D. program.
  • Demonstrated strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to client confidentiality.
  • Interest in the Firm’s practice areas (product liability, business, environmental, and employment, etc.)
  • Familiarity with California legal procedures is a plus but not required.

Program Details

  • 6 – 8 week program, with some flexibility to meet candidate schedules.
  • Summer Intern is a part-time, temporary, hourly, non-exempt position with a hybrid schedule of 25 – 29 hours a week, including in-office work at our Irvine, CA location.   
  • Pay rate of $60.00 per hour.
  • Mentorship opportunities with attorneys and senior staff.
  • Future opportunities with the Firm may be available based on internship performance and Firm needs.
